Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has confirmed the signing of Brazilian star Dani Alves on Wednesday.

Alves told the gathered press that he is ‘sorry’ if he has hurt Pep Guardiola but he moved to Paris to ‘be a champion’.

The Brazilian veteran, 34, turned down Manchester City, signing a stunning £12million-a-year (£230,000 a week) contract at the Parc des Princes.

Speaking at a press conference to announce his arrival in Paris, Alves revealed that the PSG ‘project’ convinced him to choose the club over City.

‘There’s a very interesting project in Paris. I have friends here, I’m a man who loves challenges,’ said Alves.

‘If Pep Guardiola and Manchester City feel hurt, I am sorry. I have come here to be a champion.

‘PSG have been flirting with me for a long time, for three years, and now we are married.
