New York: World Health Organization (WHO) spokeswoman Margaret Harris on Tuesday said that some treatments had shown effectiveness in reducing the severity of Covid 19. However, she added that no cure has yet been found to eradicate the virus.

The WHO spokeswoman stated this during a video conference.

She said: “In our view, there are treatments that are working to reduce the severity of the disease and limit its duration, but we do not have a cure as yet.”

She said the World Health Organization was focusing on four to five of the most effective treatments.

“We also have positive data on the treatment of corona virus, but we need data that we can say with 100% certainty that this treatment is the cure,” she said while referring to trials of various drugs for the treatment of corona virus.

In Spain, the number of new cases of the corona virus fell sharply in the past two months.

The health ministry said that 594 cases of corona virus were reported on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infected people in the country to 228,030.

The death toll from the deadly virus has risen to 26,920 after 176 deaths on Tuesday.

As many as 19,000 to 38,000 people were killed in the UK in early May, the highest number ever reported in Europe
