Sixth census decided under military supervision in March 2016

ISLAMABAD: Federal institution, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), governing council in its session headed by finance minister Ishaq Dar decided to hold sixth census under supervision of military next year in March 2016 in light of directives given by Council of Common Interests (CCI).

Initial report of the new census would be released in June 2016 while final report would be unveiled in December 2016. The process would cost approximately Rs145 billion that would be allocated in budget of next fiscal year with collaboration of provinces.

Ishaq Dar said that all efforts would be made to ensure ontime fundings for the new census. The session also reviewed developments eyeing recommendations to change fiscal year of Pakistan.
