A court on Saturday granted five-day physical remand of six cops for questioning in a case pertaining to the alleged extrajudicial killing of 27-year-old Naqeebullah Mehsud.

SP Investigation Abid Qaimkhani produced sub-inspector Muhammad Yaseen, ASI Allahyar, head constable Hazrat Hayat, Iqbal and two others before the court.

Former SSP Malir Rao Anwar along with fourteen other policemen has been declared as absconder in remand papers.

Qaimkhani informed that the suspects were rounded up on Friday. A case against them had been registered on the recommendation of an inquiry committee formed to probe the death of Naqeebullah in an alleged fake encounter, he added. He said the suspects have confessed the crime during initial investigation.

The court directed the IO to submit a progress report on completion of their physical remand.
