MULTAN: At least six people were killed when a vehicle they were travelling in fell into a canal due to fog on a road adjacent to the National Highway in the wee hours of Sunday, police said.
The bodies were taken out immediately after the rescue agencies reached the spot. Meanwhile, to avoid further unfortunate accidents roads leading to Faisalabad from Pindi Bhattiya and from Faisalabad to Gojra were suspended for traffic till better visibility.
Meanwhile, flight operation resumed at the Allama Iqbal International Airport as the fog cleared on Saturday. However, many local and international flights faced delays.
Heavy fog had descended on Lahore and adjoining areas, causing overnight suspension of flight schedules and closure of several sections of the motorway.
The visibility was reduced to 50m to 100m at Allama Iqbal Airport prompting a suspension of local and international flights.
According to the airport authorities, PIA`s flight- PK 247 to Dammam was canceled, while the PK-759 flight to Jeddah and PK-725 to Riyadh were delayed.
