ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesman, Dr Muhammad Faisal said on Wednesday that the situation with Indian remained on alert.
“There is a difficult situation with India. We wish for de-escalation and are taking steps for this. The situation like the prime minister said remains on alert,” Dr Faisal said in a video available to a local TV.
Relations between Pakistan and India have been tense following the attack in Pulwama, occupied Kashmir. New Delhi without any proof blamed Pakistan for harbouring terrorists behind the attack.
Following the attack, India military aircrafts violated the Line of Control (LoC) but were forced to return owing to the timely response of Pakistan Air Force (PAF). A day later Pakistan confirmed shooting down two Indian aircraft which crossed the LoC and capturing an Indian pilot who was later released.
During a news conference last week, Dr Faisal said there was no information in the dossier submitted by India linking Pakistan and Jaish-e-Mohammad’s Moulana Masood Azhar to the Pulwama attack.
India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have used the attack in Pulwama to drive up anti-Pakistan sentiment ahead of the national elections.
Pakistan’s offer to hold a dialogue on issues including terrorism has not been reciprocated by India.
