LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq said on Monday that the nation was worried about the future of democracy as there had been rumours of setting up technocract and national government.
Speaking to media persons here at Mansoora, the JI chief said that holding of next elections was still a distant dream.
He said that the democracy was itself a solution to make the weak democratic system stronger.
Haq said that derailing democracy was not in the country’s interest.
Criticising the government, the JI chief said that neither the government acted upon its manifesto nor it fulfilled its promises made with the masses.
He further said that the government was involved in corruption and had weakened the institutions.
