LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq on Saturday demanded the government to provide voting right to overseas Pakistanis and completion of preparations for vote casting for the overseas nationals before 2018 general election.

Sirajul Haq was addressing a delegation comprising representatives of overseas Pakistanis residing in African, European, Arabian and Middle East countries, as well as United States, United Kingdom and Gulf countries.

The JI Ameer said around 90 lakh Pakistanis are ambassadors of Pakistan and Islam in foreign countries. He urged overseas Pakistanis to aware international community regarding resolutions of United Nations (UN) for provision of self-determination right to Kashmiris.

The session was also attended by JI Naib Ameer Hafiz Muhammad Idress, Mian Muhammad Aslam, Secretary General Liaqat Baloch and Abdul Ghaffar Aziz.

He said overseas Pakistanis were generating $19 billion as foreign exchange in a year but the corrupt rulers sent the reserves to foreign banks. The illegal act restricted overseas Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan, he added. He appealed the Pakistanis to shift their businesses in Pakistan to get rid of World Bank (WB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF).

While commenting over Pope Francis, Senator Sirajul Haq said the Pope made positive remarks regarding Islam which are being praised across the World. He added U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump is promoting hatred against Muslims and Islam by vituperation.

Siraj clarified that Islam is religion of peace and justice while conspiracies against the religious will not get successful and connecting the Islam with terrorism will be tantamount to dent global peace. He clarified that Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) believed in dialogues over different issues present across the globe and the political party condemned all kind of terrorism and anti-humanitarian acts.

The JI Ameer criticised the government over wasting time for strict accountability of rulers. He said the nation will not allow corrupt rulers to run away from accountability. He said the government will have to bow down its head before the nation by formation of inquiry commission.
