KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq on Monday demanded of the government to grant citizenship to former East Pakistanis who are residing in Pakistan.
He said they are defender of the ideology of Pakistan and gave great sacrifices for it. Sirajul Haq said JI will raise voice for them in the assemblies. The JI leader said he will call on interior minister to resolve their issues.
While talking to a delegation of former East Pakistanis at Idara Noor-e-Haq, Sirajul Haq expressed concerns over the hurdles in acquiring CNICs.
JI Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Abdul Wahab , Barjees Ahmed, Secretary Information Zahid Askari and others were also present on the occasion. The delegations was comprised of Muslim Alliance President SM Farooq, Advocate Shoa-un-Nabi, Khawaja Soliman, Kamal-ud-din and others. The delegation informed Sirajul Haq about their problems and presented proposals. The delegation also presented a memorandum to the JI leader. Haq assured them complete support and cooperation. Shoa-un-Nabi said that they were being treated like “stateless persons.”
