Sir Syed day to be observed on Monday

KARACHI: Sir Syed Day would be observed in the metropolis on Monday (October 17).

Syed Ahmad Khan, commonly known as Sir Syed, was the greatest Muslim reformer of the 19th century.

He was born in Delhi on October 17, 1817 and was one of the architects of modern India and played an instrumental role in the Pakistan Movement.

In 1875 he founded the Muhammaden Anglo-Oriental College- the first Muslim University in South Asia.

To mark the `Youm-e-Sir Syed’, the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association in collaboration with Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), a ceremony would be held in Karachi on October 17.
