The Sindh and Punjab assemblies are set to elect their leaders of the houses today.
The members of these assemblies will cast their votes to elect chief ministers.
Pakistan Muslim League-N candidate Maryam Nawaz and Sunni Ittehad Council’s Rana Aftab Ahmed will face each other in the election for the chief minister of Punjab today.
The members of the Pakistan Muslim League-N have submitted the nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz. Punjab Assembly Secretary Chaudhry Amir Habib received the papers.
The nomination papers of Rana Aftab Ahmed, the nominee of the Sunni Ittehad Council, were also submitted.
Later, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan scrutinized the papers and after scrutiny declared the papers of both the candidates as valid as per the rules and regulations.
Punjab Speaker Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said that the election of the chief minister of Punjab will be held at 11 am on Feb 26 (today).
