New school timings announced in wake of health risks

Karachi: A senior minister of Sindh government has opposed reopening of schools till the elemination of coronavirus pandemic.

In a video message on Wednesday, Sindh Health Minister Azra Pechuho said that she personally does not want to reopen primary and secondary schools in the province till the complete elemination of the virus. Our children are very fragile. I am concerned over reopening of the schools.

The minister said that elder children can maintain social distancing and observe SOPs but the small kids could not take care of themselves.

The small children should be taught online untill the coronavirus pandemic is completely over, or else, there is a fear of second or third wave of the virus from reopening of junior classes, Azra Pechuho added.

It may be noted that the federal government has announced to reopen schools from Sept 15 in the country.
