Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to resume public transport service after the Eidul Fitr.

Speaking to the media, Sindh Transport Minister Owais Shah said that preparations are being made to resume public transport following the standard operating procedures SOPs. However, the final approval will be given by the the chief minister on Monday, he added.

A four-point summary to provide relief to the transporters has been made, which will be approved by the chief minister in a meeting next week.

Last week, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that the all the decisions were taken after consultations. However, he said that consensus could not be reached on resuming public transport service as two provinces were not in favour.

The prime minister had appealed to the provinces to resume public transport service. He said that road and air transport was not halted even in the US and Europe despite heavy casualties there.

Owais Shah said that he has respect for the PM but he could not resume public transport as the daily virus cases are on the rise.

Does the PM wants to make the country Italy or Wuhan by reopening transport?

The provincial minister said that the government is set to give a relief package to the transporters facing hardships in the wake of lockdown.
