Sindh govt committed to freedom of expression: Chandio

KARACHI: Advisor to Chief Minister of Sindh on Information, Maula Bux Chandio has said that the provincial government is committed to freedom of expression as it firmly believes that democracy and independence of media go hand in hand.

Talking to a delegation of Karachi Press Club (KPC) which called on him at CM House on Saturday, Maula Bux Chandio said that media in Pakistan is not only independent but also highly vibrant in shaping public opinion and raising awareness among the masses about various issues.

He said that the Sindh government was fully cognizant of the security needs of media houses and journalists. It was making all possible efforts to create amiable atmosphere where media persons can perform their professional duties without any fear, he added.

The Advisor to CM further said that media in Pakistan enjoyed freedom more than anywhere in the world. He urged media to play positive role and highlight achievements of government, which would ultimately strengthen democracy in the country.

On the occasion, CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah handed over a cheque of Rs. 25 million to the President of KPC, A.H. Khanzada, in a simple but impressive ceremony.

A.H. Khanzada and others senior journalist presented a souvenir shield to the CM Murad Ali Shah and Moula Bux Chandio on the occasion.
