Sindh Governor lauds progress of DUHS

KARACHI: Governor Sindh and Chancellor Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, has said that the unprecedented progress made by the university during last 12 years was an exemplary accomplishment which should be followed by other universities of the province and country.

Its expansion from only three institutes to sixty four presently was also very remarkable.

This he said while addressing agreement signing and ground breaking ceremony of new campus of DUHS to be established at DHA city super highway at its site.

Corps Commander Lt. General Naveed Mukhtar, founding Vice Chancellor of Dow University Prof. Dr. Masood Hameed Khan and Administrator DHA Brig. Zubair Ahmed were also present on the occasion.

Governor Sindh said that DUHS being his alma mater has a special place in his heart. The miraculous rise of DUHS and becoming a well known brand globally reflects the untiring efforts of the entire team of the university, he added

He said that the Ojha campus is a unique example of all diagnostic and treatment facilities from OPD to surgery under one roof. Due to the quality of healthcare being provided there on affordable prices, there is a vast increase in patients on daily basis, he added.

Dr. Ebad said that with the constructions of planned 500 bedded hospital and Trauma Centre at DHA City Super Highway, a modern health care centre would be established which would also benefit the locals living around the project.

He lauded the announcement by DHA to establish a health district within DHA city on 95 acres. It was pivotal to plan and establish projects like DHA city to ensure minimizing the load of population on Karachi.

Prof. Masood Hameed Khan speaking on the occasion said that the new campus would house well equipped 500 bedded hospitals and Trauma Centre. DUHS has always strived to produce able health professionals and also to serve the ailing humanity, he added

Administrator DHA Brig. Zubair Ahmed while giving details of DHA city projects highlighted its salient features. He lauded the establishment of DUHS campus at DHA city and informed that various other hospitals, educational institutions and banks, are also being established here.

Later, Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and Corps Commander Lt. General Naveed Mukhtar performed the ground breaking of the new campus. An agreement was also signed between DUHS and DHA city on the occasion which was signed by Registrar DUHS Dr. Shaikh Nadeem Ahmed and Brig Nadeem Azhar Lone from DHA.
