Sindh decides to maintain Covid restrictions for another two weeks

KARACHI: A meeting of the Sindh task force on coronavirus was held here on Saturday.

Chairing the meeting, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had decided to maintain the Covid-related restrictions for another two weeks.

He said that schools would not reopen from May 24 in the province.

Shah said that corona cases had increased after the Eid-ul-Fitr. Currently, the rate of positive cases of coronavirus in the province is 8.8 per cent, he added.

It was decided in the meeting that tourist spots including Sea View, Hawke’s Bay, amusement parks would remain closed for two weeks.

The meeting decided that walking tracks would be kept open in the province and shops would remain open from Monday till 6 pm under SOPs. Inter-city transport would run with 50 per cent passengers. Violation of SOPs in intercity transport will result in fines, the chief minister said.

Department stores across the province will also remain open until 6 p.m, he added.
