Sindh CM approves outsourcing of motor vehicle inspection

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the proposal of outsourcing motor vehicle inspection & certification system (VICS) so that proper inspection of the vehicles could be made.

He took this decision while presiding over a meeting on Transport here at the CM House. The meeting was attended by Transport Minister Syed Nasir Shah, ACS (Dev) M. Waseem, Secretary Transport Taha Farooqui, DG Mass Transit authority Syed Asadullah Shah and others.

The chief minister was told that the unfit, too old and defective vehicles were plying on the roads all over the province. The inspection in the government sector was not up to mark and has lot of issues.

The government had decided to outsource the inspection and certification of vehicles, commercial, non-commercial and private, therefore some companies have shown interest into the project.

It was also informed to the chief minister that a SIM would be installed in the number plate of each and every vehicle connected with the main data of Motor Vehicle Registration Wing of excise & taxation department.

The scanning of the SIM by police, traffic and any other forces would disclose the complete data of a vehicle, including ownership, tax paid, inspection done/due and such other data.

The chief minister directed Transport Minister Nasir Shah to put up proposal for approval of outsourcing of motor vehicle inspection.
