ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan government once again extended deadline of bio-metric verification of mobile SIMs till May 15, 2015 during a high-level meeting headed by federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar here on Tuesday.
A high-level security meeting held under chair of the interior minister Chaudhry Nisar in Islamabad today that extended deadline for SIMs’ bio-metric verification across Pakistan.
While addressing the meeting, Nisar said that verification of mobile SIMs were decided while envisaging the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism. He said that cellular company would face case if its SIM was used in any terror incident leaving no space of comprise over matters relating to national security.
Nisar praised foreign investments in Pakistan but still protection of nationals placed amongst top priorities of the government.
The interior minister provided complete briefing over developments in the bio-metric verification phase for completion of more than 7 crore SIMs and suspension of approximately 2 crore illegal SIM cards.
