Shutdown in Pulwama against killing of youth

ISLAMABAD: Complete shutdown, in Indian occupied Kashmir, was observed in Pulwama district to mourn the death of two youth, Shariq Ahmed Sheikh and Shabbir Ahmed (Showkat) by Indian troops in Tahab area of the district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Shariq Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Takuna Gulzarpora and Shabbir Ahmed (Showkat) of Mehind Bhijbehra were killed by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation.

Pulwama, Awantipora, Tahab, Tral and adjoining areas remained completely shut to mourn the killings. All shops and business establishments were closed while public transport was off the road in the district.

The troops were heavily deployed in Tral, Awantipora and Pulwama areas.

People from various areas thronged the residences of Shariq Ahmad and Shabbir Ahmad in their native areas to express solidarity with their families.

Meanwhile, train service between Srinagar and Banihal remained suspended for the second day, today, following the killing of two youth in Pulwama on Sunday. A railway official said that all trains running on Srinagar-Pulwama, Islamabad and Qazigund to Banihal remained suspended.
