DERA GHAZI KHAN: The police seized a truck carrying weapons in the wake of armed encounter that left a police officer and a terrorist killed near Kot Chutta,some 25 kilometres from here early Monday, said police.
The remaining terrorists managed to escape and police was chasing them. Police officials said that Sadar police DG Khan had received information during Sunday-Monday midnight that a truck carrying weapons was on it’s way to some area along the Indus Highway.
A police team reached Indus Highway and tried to stop the truck, but the criminals opened fire at police causing injuries to SHO Sadar Imran Nawaz Barohi who was rushed to DHQ hospital DG Khan but he failed to survive.
The return fire by police caused death of a terrorist Muhammad Rizwan. Other terrorists, however, managed to escape and a police team was chasing them.
Police teams seized the truck carrying weapons. Some 5000 bullets of G3 gun, 900 bullets of Kalashnikov, 44 hand grenades, two RPG shells, and other weapons were recovered from the truck.
Meanwhile, Namaz-e-Janaza of Inspector Imran Nawaz Barohi who sacrificed his life for duty was held at police line Monday morning and his body was sent to his native town Taunsa Sharif.A number of police officials including RPO,DPO attended his namaz-e-Janaza.
