ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif has responded to the President’s letter on the issue of caretaker prime minister.

PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif responded to President Arif Alvi’s letter of consultation for caretaker prime minister in which he refused to consult for caretaker setup.

Shehbaz in his reply to the president said that he (president) had written two letters to him in which ex-CJP (Retd) Gulzar Ahmed had been named for the caretaker prime minister but the Supreme Court has taken suo motu notice of this matter.

The PML-N leader  in his reply took the position that you are violating the restraining order of the Supreme Court on the matter and all the consultations you are holding are against the court orders and the law so I cannot be a part of this consultation.

It may be recalled that on April 3, at the advice of the prime minister, President Arif Ali dissolved the National Assembly, after which the president wrote a letter to Imran Khan and Shehbaz Sharif seeking consultation for the caretaker prime minister.

Besides, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nominated ex-CJP Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed for caretaker PM.

Yesterday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Leader of Opposition Shehbaz Sharif has said that he demanded from Army Chief General Bajwa and DG ISI to bring evidence before the nation if we have committed treason.

Talking to media outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday, Shehbaz said, “We did not commit this crime. None of us committed this crime. We did not invite any foreign power. The issue should now be cleared.”
