Shehbaz Sharif will be prime minister: Maryam

LAHORE: PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz has reacted to the decision of the Supreme Court.

Responding on Twitter, Maryam Nawaz said, “Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, congratulations to the nation on the supremacy of the Constitution. The work of those who violated the constitution is over forever.

Maryam Nawaz said that Shehbaz Sharif will be the Prime Minister insha-Allah.

It may be recalled that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled in the case of Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri’s April 3 rolling, dissolution of the National Assembly by the President.

Earlier, Chief Justice Umat Ata Bandial declared ruling of deputy speaker Qasim Suri as unconstitutional.

The court also declared dissolution of National Assembly as unconstitutional and reinstated the parliament.

According to the verdict, all the ministers had been restored. Speaker has been instructed to hold session of the National Assembly on April 9. All the legal actions taken by the government after the dissolution of assembly have been declared unconstitutional.

New prime minister will be elected if the no-trust motion becomes successful, the court ruled.

President Alvi’s steps taken regarding the caretaker prime minister are also unconstitutional, the Chief Justice remarked.

Earlier, hearing the suo motu notice on the rejection of the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Chief Justice of Pakistan on Thursday said that the matter of the Punjab Assembly would be taken up by the Lahore High Court, we are only looking into the matter of the National Assembly.

A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial is hearing the case.

At the beginning of the hearing, Advocate General Punjab Ahmed Owais told the court that a very alarming situation had arisen in Punjab last night. Last night, Hamza Shehbaz was made chief minister at a hotel. The Chief Justice said that we are not touching the Punjab Assembly in these proceedings.
