Hamza Shahbaz elected as Punjab CM

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met in the National Assembly and agreed to nominate Hamza Shehbaz as Punjab Chief Ministerial candidate.

Opposition sources said that in the meeting between Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto, the opposition had agreed to nominate Hamza Shehbaz as the Chief Minister of Punjab.

According to sources, the two leaders vowed to ensure their victory in Punjab as well as the federation.

According to sources, Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met at a dinner.

Earlier, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar had accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

After the acceptance of the resignation of the Punjab chief minister, the Punjab Cabinet has also been dissolved.

The governor Punjab has convened a meeting on April 2 to elect a new Leader of the House. A meeting of the Punjab Assembly has been convened on Saturday at 11 am.

It may be recalled that a few days ago, Prime Minister Imran Khan had nominated Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervaiz Elahi instead of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar as Chief Minister in return for which PML-Q had announced its support to the government in the no-confidence motion.
