KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday granted interim bail to Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly and MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan in three cases for seven days.
Khawaja Izharul Hassan had been arrested on Friday by then SSP Malir Rao Anwar and later released on the intervention of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.
Izharul Hassan has approached the SHC for bail in the three FIR registered against him in different police stations of Malir District on the charges of facilitating provocative speeches of MQM founder Altaf Hussain. On Monday, he appeared before the court along with his lawyer.
His counsel pleaded that the FIRs registered against his client were politically-motivated and false and hence he be granted bail.
After hearing the arguments of his lawyer, the court granted interim bail to Hassan against furnishing Rs50 thousands surety bond in each case and directed him to appear before the trial court within seven days and join the police investigation.
