KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has asked the provincial minister Sharjeel Inam Memon to play his due role in resolving the water crises or otherwise leave the ministry in the larger interest of the people of Karachi.
He was addressing a protest demonstration organized by JI Karachi Chapter at Korangi No.6 in connection with non-availability of water and electricity.
A large number of area people including men, women, children and elderly men participated in the protest demonstration. They chanted slogans against the provincial government and administration of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).
JI District Bin Qasim Ameer Muhammad Islam, JI Karachi General Secretary Abdul Wahab, Sultan Najmi, former town nazim Abdul Jamil, Zia-ur-Rehman Farooqui and others were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Hafiz Naeem said that the tanker mafia with the active connivance of provincial government is creating artificial shortage of water; adding that ample supply of water is being continued at water hydrants running under the patronization of political parties.
He said that there were two main issues related to water supply including water shortage and unfair distribution of water in different areas; adding that the JI former City Nazim Niamatullah Khan Advocate had laid network of roads, infrastructure, bridges, educational centers, medical colleges and parks while after his departure the parks have been encroached and the infrastructure of city has been destroyed by the city administration.
Hafiz Naeem holds corrupt provincial government and its former allies responsible for water crises and power outage; adding that the JI leadership will resolve the issues of the masses without any discrimination of their cast, colour and creed.
“The K-4 water project is not being implemented yet after passing 10years, as it was initiated by the former JI city mayor Niamatullah Khan in his tenure”, he regretted.
He alleged that the PPP and MQM in its tenure recruited their workers in the government facilitation departments which were the reasons of the issues and problems of the masses, as the performance of those civic related departments has been destroyed badly by the recruitment of the political workers.
“JI believes on serving the humanity and it owns the people of Karachi at all extent and will continue to serve the people in future as well”, he added.
Hafiz Naeem further appealed the people to come forward and play their due role in getting their due rights under the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Later, Hafiz Naeem warned the authorities concerned of NADRA to rectify its lines and takes measures to resolve the issues of the masses, otherwise the JI leadership along with the area people would besiege the NADRA Office located in the vicinity.
