Shahid Afridi meets CM Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE: National Cricketer Shahid Afridi met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here Saturday in which promotion of cricket was discussed.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that cricket was a very popular game of Pakistan and there was a lot of talent of this game in the country. He said that Pakistani cricketers had won laurels for the country on a number of occasions at international level.

He said that Pakistani players were great ambassadors of the country. The Chief Minister said game should be taken as a game, adding that sportsman spirit was a real essence of the game. He said promotion of games was essential for the establishment of a healthy society and Punjab government had taken effective measures for this purpose.

Shehbaz Sharif said that promotion of sports was proving helpful in enhancing healthy activities and eliminating trends of extremism, that is why, Punjab government was promoting sports activities. He said games played a vital role in highlighting soft image of any country. He said huge funds were being provided for the promotion of healthy activities and sports in the province.

He said all out facilities will be provided for the promotion of games, including cricket, in future as well.
