Seven convicted prisoners executed in Punjab jails

GUJRANWALA: As many as seven death row prisoners were executed across Punjab earlier on Wednesday, local media reported.

Three convicts met their fate at Faisalabad’s Central Jail. Convicted killers—Muhammed Salim and Arshad—killed a man over a longstanding enmity in 1998.

The other convict, Nabeel, took life of a man over a feud in 2000.

Two were hanged in Sahiwal’s Central Jail early this morning. Fayyaz gunned down a man in 2003. Meantime, the other killer, Qiaser, killed a man during a robbery by opening fire at him in 2004.

Meantime, a convicted killer, Muhammed Aslam, was executed in Mianwali’s Central Jail around today’s dawn. The convict assassinated two people on February 24, 1997.

In Gujrat also, a death house inmate, Iqbal alias Bala, has been sent to gallows in District Jail this morning. Aslam killed a man in 1995.

Meantime, a criminal, Ghulam Rasool, who took life of Ilyas in 2000, has been spared his life after a reconciliation deal was reached between the litigants.
