ISLAMABAD: Former chairman Senate Mohamamd Mian Soomro’s nephew Barrister Malik Fahad was killed and three others were injured on Monday in an exchange of fire between two groups in Islamabad.
The firing incident took place in Islamabad’s Sector F 11 at a coffee shop during the early hours of the day. According to police, Raja Arshad and Malik Tariq’s group had a clash, in which both parties resorted to firing.
The clash killed Fahad and left three injured, when the other party opened fire at their vehicle. One of the injured was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in critical state.
Another clash occurred in the hospital premises before police arrived at the spot. Police said that the reason behind the armed clash could not be ascertained.
SHO Shalimar police station Zulfikar was suspended after the incident, police sources said. The initial postmortem report suggested that Fahad was hit by four bullets. The bullet hitting Fahad on his right cheek turned out to be fatal, sources said.
Bullets hit his neck and back, sources added. The report would be handed over to police tomorrow.
According to police, Barrister Fahad had mediated a written truce between Malik Tariq and the other group; however, after a fight Raja Arshad opened fire on his vehicle.
