ISLAMABAD: A Senate committee is expected to take up a bill on Thursday seeking formation of judicial commission to probe Panama Papers scandal.
According to reports, the bill titled “Panama Papers Inquiries Act 2016” will be taken up in the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice headed by Javed Abbasi of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
The Pakistan People’s Party-led opposition had introduced the bill in Senate on September 26. At the time when bill was introduced, at least 32 members voted in its favour and 19 against it.
Two political parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) refrained from backing the bill.
