HANGU: At least 18 terrorists were killed and six other injured when security forces successfully repulsed an attack on a check-post in Mangora Sar area in Lower Kurram Agency near the Pak-Afghan border Thursday morning, Political and FC authorities told APP.
Security sources said at least 50 to 60 armed militants from across the border attacked a security check-post in Kurram Agency Thursday morning but troops retaliated with gunfire, forcing the militants to retreat. The fleeing terrorists leaving their arms and ammunition behind fled across the border.
The security forces immediately took the control of the area after the attack and tightened the security measures.
The security forces have repulsed similar attacks from across the border in the past with courage and determination and frustrated nefarious designs of the terrorist with full might, the security official said.
Separately, the police in tehsil Thalla and Doaba in Hangu district have arrested ten accused and twenty suspects during strike and search operations, SHO Police Station Thall Amjad Hussain told reporters. The police seized narcotics, arms and ammunition from their possession as well.
