Security bolstered in country after Jacobabad blast, President, PM condemn incident

Security has been boosted throughout the country in the wake of Jacobabad bomb blast that has left more than a dozen dead and many others injured. The incident has been condemned by higher-ups in the country.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is on an official tour of three days in United States has condemned the blast in his statement and called chief minister of Punjab to take extra ordinary measures in Lahore. There are expectations that extra force will be called in Lahore tonight for next two days.

Involvement of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LeJ) are being examined in this blast.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jacobabad said that it could be a suicide blast. However, the nature of the blast is being ascertained.

Meanwhile, the security personnel deployed on the procession route cordoned off the area.

The rescue sources said that the injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital Jacobabad where an emergency had been declared.

President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul Ebad and Chief Minister of Sindh Qaim Ali Shah strongly condemned the Jacobabad blast and expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of innocent lives.

Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad has demanded report from IG Sindh over the incident and directed him to increase the security of processions across the province. While, CM Sindh has directed to provide the injured with the best of medical services and said the terrorists would be arrested.
