SCP raises question over conversion of Islamic center into cinema

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) three member bench has raised the question that how an Islamic Center can be converted into a cinema hall.

This question was raised during the hearing of a case pertaining to the conversion of an Islamic Center into a cinema hall. The case was being heard by a three member bench of SCP under chair of the Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali.

During the hearing, administrator Karachi in his detailed statement admitted that there was no legal provision for the said conversion.

To a question, the administrator said that no action could be taken against the party running the cinema due to a stay order, being obtained by the party. On the occasion, the apex court directed the administrator to take action against those involved in this illegal practice, if there is no legal provision for conversion of the center.

CJP Jamali in his remarks said that the final decision in the case would be taken after Eid ul Fitar.

Jamaat e Islami Karachi chief Engr. Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman was also present on the occasion.
