ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan  on Monday accepting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Saad Rafique petition against election tribunal decision on NA-125 suspended the tribunal decision which had declared election on the seat null and void.

The SC three member bench headed by Justice Anwer Zaheer Jamali heard the petition and suspended the election tribunal decision and directed Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) not to carry out by-election on the seat.

From behalf of Saad Rafique his counsel Khawaja Haris presented the petition in the court.

The SC bench also issued notices to the ECP and all concerned returning officers on the seat. The bench also asked the election tribunal to submit all the data of the NA-125 to the SC bench.

The SC also suspended the election tribunal decision on PP-155 and barred the ECP holding up of by-polls on the seat.

It is pertinent to mention here that last week the election tribunal in Lahore after declaring the last general elections on the null and void also ordered the ECP to hold by-election on the seat within 60 days.
