SC issues contempt of court notice to Secretary DHA

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday issued contempt of court notice to Col (retd) Adil Jahan Secretary Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in a land case.

The division bench of the apex court headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmad heard the case. During the course of proceedings, the counsel for the Evacuee Property  Trust Board (EPTB) told the bench that the court had already given verdict in Sikh community’s land case in 2010.

He said that it was responsibility of the DHA Lahore to develop 2000 acres of land. He said that the DHA had also returned 645 plots and 100 kanal land to EPTB according to the court orders.

He said that the DHA Lahore demanded Rs 950 million development charges when the Board wrote a letter to the authority for possession of land.

He said that the DHA Lahore cannot demand development charges according to the court orders. The court after hearing arguments issued contempt of court notices and adjourned hearing of the case for an indefinite period.
