SC declares blood sale ‘unpardonable crime’

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has taken suo moto notice of blood and medicines theft in the hospitals of Federal Capital.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar heard the case during which it was told to the court that poly clinic hospitals didn’t use resources in a right way.
Grade 9 to grade 14 technicians were allowed to issue blood without the approval of officials but this authority was ended due to implementation of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
According to reports, the court ordered poly clinic hospitals to follow new SOPs and said that these SOPs are applicable for all the stakeholders. It was further directed to take strict action against the violators.
Meanwhile, CJP said that sale of blood is an unforgivable crime as it is a matter of human lives. Subsequently, the hearing has been adjourned till indefinite period. INP
