SC accepts Musharraf’s appeal for hearing in disqualification case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday accepted an appeal of former president Pervez Musharraf for hearing filed against Peshawar High Court orders in life time disqualification case.

The five-member larger of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rahman and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heard the National Assembly election matter filed by former President Pervez Musharraf against Appellate Tribunal for general election 2013, Peshawar High Court.

The court after initial hearing accepted the former President’s appeal and adjourned hearing of the case for an indefinite period.

Pervez Musharraf had filed an appeal before the PHC over rejection his nomination papers for National Assembly constituency NA-32 Chitral.

The PHD disqualified the former President for lime time from contesting election on April 30, 2013.

The PHD stated in its order that the former President had abrogated the constitution two times, he also arrested the judges and their families so he could not participate in Senate, National Assembly or any  other elections.
