Karachi: Former finance minister and PML-N leader Muftah Ismail has said that State Bank of Pakistan should be independent in Pakistan but not independent from Pakistan.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Muftah Ismail said that the government was mortgaging economic sovereignty as the governor would become viceroy and SBP would become East India Company.
He said that SBP should be independent in Pakistan but not independent from Pakistan, adding that PML-N would strongly oppose this move.
Amir Muqam, a senior PML-N leader, said the PPP had formed a new alliance with the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamaat-e-Islami.
