NEW YORK: Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz met the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait here on sidelines of the 70th UN General Assembly.
He condoled with the Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir over the tragic incidents during Hajj 2015 that resulted in loss of scores of precious lives.
Saudi foreign minister stated that the Saudi government has ordered an inquiry into the incidents. He also briefed his Pakistani counterpart on steps taken by the Saudi government to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
The two ministers agreed to take bilateral relations to new heights, particularly in defence cooperation, trade and law enforcement.
Sartaj Aziz in a meeting with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah agreed to upgrade cooperation in counterterrorism and promote Kuwaiti investment in Pakistan.
They reviewed ongoing bilateral cooperation and identified scope of improvement in areas of counterterrorism and defence cooperation.
The two ministers in the meeting also expressed serious concerns on threats of terrorism posed by ISIS.
Aziz highlighted the problems faced by Pakistani nationals from Kuwaiti visa regime. He said the policy has created difficulties for Pakistani families living in Kuwait. Kuwaiti Foreign Minister promised to address the issue.
