SEOUL: As Samsung eyeing to launch a larger variant of the Galaxy S6 edge with a 5.7-inch display dubbed Galaxy S6 edge Plus, now Samsung has registered a trademark with a naming convention that is unheard of, the Galaxy S6 Note.
The device is expected to debut next year but Samsung already got the trade mark S6 Note.
It is not uncommon for vendors to file trademarks to protect their branding identity, which is most likely the case here.
Samsung already has clearly-defined product lineups in the high-end segment, with the Galaxy S series being the mainstream flagship and the Galaxy Note line for those looking for a larger screen.
Trademarking the Galaxy S6 Note is just Samsung’s way of making sure that obscure Chinese vendors don’t get it to first.
