LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, on Monday said that the present government had acquired nine billion dollars as loan during the last three years and it must explain to the nation where and how the huge amount had been spent. He was speaking at a reception hosted in his honour by the JI Lahore chapter in Model Town last evening.
Sirajul Haq said that the masses were deprived of the basic facilities of education, health and employment. Most of the projects announced by the ruling party during its election campaign had not been initiated so far while those that had been taken in hand and formally inaugurated, were also incomplete. Only the rulers could explain where the money had gone, he said.
The JI chief said that the country was in the hands of a few economic terrorists as were sucking the blood of the general public. A few families sitting in different political parties were protecting each other’s corruption and loot. The NAB was patronizing these and the courts were not ready to decide any case sans solid proof. He said this was a big joke with the masses in the name of democracy and added that if only the courts hanged a few plunderers, their coming generations too would vow to refrain from corruption.
Sirajul Haq stressed that all those not coming up to the articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution should be barred from contesting elections. He said the criminals and plunderers had taken refuge in the political parties with the sole aim to make maximum money through every possible means.
He said that several leaders sitting in the opposition were more afraid of accountability than the ruling party and they did not want accountability at all. Some others wanted the accountability of others but not their own. He however that it would be much better to save the country of two hundred million by punishing a few thousands.
He said had the affairs of the rulers been neat and clean, they would not have to seek the help of Qatar’s prince.
Speaking on the occasion, JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, said that the civil-military relations were affected because the governance was not good, and the governments did not faithfully implement the constitute ion. He said that the club of about five hundred families was plundering the public wealth in turns. He said only the JI could free the masses from the clutches of the plunderers.
