Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer, Senator Sirajul Haq, said that the Pakistani rulers only adopted selected provisions of the Constitution which needed to defend themselves and to strengthen their powers instead of securing basic rights of the nationals.

Sirajul Haq while addressing the Upper House session here on Wednesday strongly criticised negligence of the federal government for security of women and children. He also raised strong voice for minors who were forced to turn into child labour even in the federal capital.

He condemned traditional indolence of the government during relief activities for the quake victims in different parts of Pakistan.

While highlighting key points over economic prosperity of Pakistan, Sirajul Haq urged the federal government to envisage provincial-level development plans instead of focusing only Islamabad. He added that eradication of lawlessness is most necessary tool to clear path of prosperity in the country.

He also criticised the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over delay in releasing notification for elected member of assembly in PK-95 constituency.
