The local authorities have postponed the United Nations visit to Myanmar’s Rakhine state, which has seen a mass exodus of Rohingya Muslims.
According to UN spokesman, no reason was given for the move but later said it was due to bad weather.
They said the government had told them the trip will happen next week.
More than 400,000 Rohingya have fled across the border to Bangladesh amid reports of military atrocities.
UN aid personnel were forced to leave Rakhine when the military began a crackdown on Rohingya militants behind attacks on security personnel, BBC reported.
The UN has been pushing to visit Rakhine to investigate the flight of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims to Bangladesh in a month.
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric had said on Wednesday, before the postponement, that he hoped the visit would be “a first step towards much freer and wider access to the area”.
