Lahore: Jamat-e-Islami Ameer, Senator Sirajul Haq, has expressed deep concern over the alarming increase in child abductions all over the country, especially in the Punjab and said this had exposed all claims of good governance.

In a statement here on Thursday, he said that individuals and groups involved in this heinous crime deserved no leniency. They must be dealt with an iron hand and the abducted children be recovered to comfort the distressed parents.

Sirajul Haq said that the abduction of eight hundred fifty children in the Punjab during the last three months should have made the government rulers have sleepless nights but the rulers and administration in the province seemed to be totally indifferent.

He said according to reports, different groups of kidnappers were smuggling innocent children outside the country and it was tragic that the government agencies had failed to shatter the network of the kidnappers.

He said there had been tall claims of good governance in the Punjab but the province had witnessed the cases of mass child abuse some time back and was now experiencing child abductions at a large scale. It was obvious that the criminals had no fear of the police and security institutions and the government machinery was helpless before the outlaws.
