Richard Olson makes farewell telephonic call to Finance Minister

ISLAMABAD: Richard Olson, US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, made a farewell telephonic call to the Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday.

Mr. Olson in his telephonic conversation said that he valued the long working relationship with the Finance Minister, both as US Ambassador to Pakistan and as US Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He acknowledged the revival of Pakistan’s economy by the Finance Minister, under the able leadership of Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

He said that “Pakistan is much better placed now compared to 3 years ago”.

The Finance Minister reciprocated the sentiments of Mr. Olson, and emphasized that Pakistan and the US should continue to work towards further strengthening bilateral relations for the welfare and prosperity of the peoples of both nations.

He acknowledged the contribution made by Mr. Olson towards the promoting peace in the region.

He said that, after having achieved macroeconomic stability, the government’s focus was now on attaining higher, sustainable and inclusive growth, leading to job creation and poverty alleviation for the people of Pakistan.
