Restrictions imposed on tea houses in Karachi

KARACHI: Restrictions have been imposed on the tea houses in the posh areas of Karachi following reports of selling drugs.

A meeting of the Defence Housing Authorities and the Clifton Cantonment Board was held here. Anti-Narcotics Force, police and the owners of the tea houses located in Defence and Clifton areas attended the meeting.

The owners of the tea houses were directed to close their businesses by 12pm midnight and get their employees registered with the authorities concerned. Also, they were instructed to keep an eye on their employees and hand over to police if someone is found involved in suspected activities.

The owners of tea hotels were also directed to follow the rules and regulations and standard operating procedures SOPs.

Recently, a letter from an overseas Pakistani, which had gone viral on the social media, claimed that drugs are supplied at the tea houses in Defence and Clifton areas.
