LAHORE: A resolution was submitted in the Punjab Assembly on Monday demanding that Shahid Afridi be given a farewell match to play.

The resolution, submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Saadia Sohail, states that the all-rounder and former captain deserves a chance to play a farewell match.

Afridi is a national hero and a farewell match is his right, the resolution states.

Afridi and veteran player Javed Miandad were involved in an ugly war of words on Sunday when Afridi, during talks with the media, said that Miandad has always spoken about money. Miandad reacted by accusing Afridi of match fixing.

Earlier today, it was reported that Shahid Afridi has decided to initiate legal action against former captain Javed Miandad over the latter’s allegations.

“Afridi and his lawyers, after thoroughly watching clips of Miandad’s interview, have agreed to send a legal notice to Miandad,” a source revealed.
