WASHINGTON: A resolution moved in the US Senate intended to block F-16 aircraft sale to Pakistan was defeated in the house on Thursday, paving the way for the deal to go ahead, informed sources told APP.

Republican Senator Rand Paul in February had moved the resolution by invoking a legislation known as the Arms Export Control Act in a bid to stop the sale of F-16 jet fighters to Pakistan.

“The Rand Paul joint resolution to block F-16 for Pakistan has been defeated by a big margin,” the sources added.
