ISLAMABAD: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has reiterated its call for complete shutdown on Monday (November 27) against the Indian brutalities in South Kashmir and the ill-treatment meted out to the illegally detained Kashmiris languishing in different jails of the territory and India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar said that forcing silence of graveyard by military might and naming it as peace could only be termed as stupidity. “A fascist government in power, inspired by Joseph Goebbels’ malicious propaganda techniques, is trying to paint the brutal pacification of Kashmir as peace and return of normalcy,” it said.

The resistance leaders said, if Indian rulers presume that oppression unleashed by their army and forces has trampled resistance in Kashmir, then they should find some courage to lift ban on political activities of the resistance leadership. They termed the statement of Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as absurd and said, “…nullifying Kashmiris’ resistance by terming it as sponsored and paid has been an old ploy of Indians who always try to negate Kashmiris’ sacrifices and resistance by these ridiculous statements.”

“Any rational person would find talk of normalcy and peace in the occupied territory as laughable when Kashmir is witnessing an increasing build-up of occupational forces, particularly in southern districts of Kashmir Valley, and when the surveillance state pervades every nook and corner of Kashmir, the discourse of normalcy and peace can only be promoted by colonial elites like Jaitley and his proxies in Kashmir,” they added.

The leaders maintained that by claiming that Indian Army and forces had succeeded in suppressing the Kashmiris’ resistance Arun Jaitley was actually acknowledging the fact that India was keeping its illegal occupation on Jammu and Kashmir through military and police might. “As a matter of fact, Indian army, forces and police have turned Jammu and Kashmir into a hell by killing thousands, blinding and injuring thousands, jailing and torturing thousands, ransacking and vandalizing properties worth millions and also by putting a blanket ban on all political activities. Even a ban has been imposed on mourning and seminars, and by these suppressive measures an artificial peace of the graveyard is being implemented in Kashmir about which Arun Jaitley and others are today boasting,” the statement said.

Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said, “As Arun Jaitley and his colleagues falsely presume to have defeated Kashmiri resistance by military oppression and NIA (National Investigation Agency) and ED (Enforcement Directorate) terrorism, we challenge them to allow peaceful activities of resistance leadership in Kashmir so that the reality of their false assumptions is established beyond doubt.”

The statement said that to prove the fabrication of these kind of Indian claims, the JRL would start a fresh series of political activities during which a public programme (Jalsa) would be held on 15th December 2017 at Lal Chowk in Islamabad. “After this Jalsa,” the statement said, “similar public programmes will also be held in north and central Kashmir, especially in Srinagar.”

The resistance leaders said that suppressing a people’s struggle by oppressive measures was not possible, and Indian leadership should also realize the fact that it could never suppress or defeat the Kashmiris’ resistance through military might.
