The US House will remain under the control of Republican after several major setbacks to the Democrat’s attempts to take back the House, Russian state-run television reported on Wednesday.
Several Republican candidates ran unopposed in the US election. However, the ones who faced Democratic rivals managed to squash them by a landslide in traditionally Republican areas including Oklahoma’s Frank D. Lucas (R) who defeated his opponent by 56 percent.
However, Democrats did pick up one large victory. Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (D) defeated incumbent Senator Mark Kirk (R) and gave the Democrats a blue seat in Illinois.
This will be good news for Senator Paul Ryan (R-Wisc) who will be keeping his position as Speaker of the House
