Remove Dr Zafar Mirza from office, Chief Justice asks govt

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday while hearing a suo motu case concerning to the coronavirus crisis directed the government to remove Dr Zafar Mirza from the post of special assistant to the PM on health.

The case was heard by the five-member larger bench of the top court.

The bench was headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed.

The Chief Justice observed that the federal government had done nothing so far to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

He added that nothing was being done despite the presence of dozens of ministers and advisors in the country.

The Chief Justice remarked that ‘corrupt people’ had been appointed advisors by thd federal government.
